My Approach to  Lesson Planning

Some lessons are far easier to plan than others. When it comes down to it, though, a lesson is best planned with careful deliberation and thought. There are steps to follow before and during the lesson planning process, as well as self-assessment to be done afterward.

Processes used when planning lessons

  • Determine students' prior knowledge.

  • Find an interesting way to grab students' attention.

  • Decide upon the sequence of instruction.

  • Provide examples which reflect students' current level.

  • Formulate questions which will promote higher thinking and challenge students with discouraging them.

  • Design a method of assessment.

  • Design an activity for students who finish early.
